You’ll find a massive variety of plant species here, including Indian blanket, star thistle, fragrant sumac, mesquite, and cottonwood trees. Wildlife is abundant in Palo Duro too. It’s not uncommon to see wild turkeys, coyotes, roadrunners, and the rare Texas Horned Lizard when you visit. Also, on the canyon’s rim, Longhorn steers from the official Texas State Longhorn Herd can often be spotted. Amazing!
