Part-Time & Summer Jobs for College Students Ideas

It’s almost summertime, when, as they say, the living is easy. If you’re a college student, it might be slightly easier unless you can’t find a summer job.  To find out which summer jobs are the best, read on! We’ve got 7 excellent summer jobs for college students over summer vacation, below! (They come from an in-depth college student survey we did recently!)

Jobs for College Students: Camp Counselor

College students in our survey said that, when it comes to summer jobs, being a camp counselor is incredible! You get to work with kids, which some people like a lot. Also, you’ll be outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Even better, you’ll get paid to swim, kayak, play volleyball, make crafts, and more! We think you’ll agree, that would make an excellent summer job for a college student.

Jobs for Students: Landscaping Side-Hustle

If you want to be outdoors but don’t want to deal with kids, a lawn maintenance side-hustle might be perfect. You’ll need some business cards, a lawnmower (riding, if possible), and a small pickup truck or van, too. Here’s how:

  1. Have some cheap business cards made online and a small, half-page flyer describing yourself and your services.
  2. Make sure you give plenty of options to contact you, like a phone, Facebook, email, etc.
  3. Go door-to-door in your neighborhood and stick them on mailbox flags.
  4. Answer calls and negotiate with new potential customers.
  5. Take care of their lawn and garden needs.
  6. Make money!

Jobs for College Students: Try Lifeguarding

Another fantastic summer job for college students is lifeguarding. Yes, you need to be able to swim well and pass a CPR class. When you do, you can guard almost anywhere that people swim! On the coast, there’s the ocean, but there are public pools all over America that need lifeguards, too. The best part; you’ll be outside, enjoying the weather and the fresh air!

Jobs for College Students: Tutor Online

Tutoring online has surged in recent years. One of the main reasons is that it’s convenient for both the tutor and the person being tutored. Neither of you has to leave the house! Of course, you need to be proficient in something people want or need to study: a language, mathematics, science, whatever. If you know the subject well enough to teach it, you can make money with a computer right from home! You can find potential students on social media like YouTube and Facebook, too! It’s one of the most productive ways to spend your summer vacation!

Get an Internship in Your Future Industry

If you can find an internship with a company in the industry you’re studying, that’s perfect. Yes, you won’t get paid, which is a drawback. The benefits, however, can often outweigh that disadvantage. For example, you can learn from people already in your future industry and, possibly, from some of the best. You’ll also find out if you like the industry, which is always good to know. As they say, it’s not what you know, but who. If you intern at the right company, that could open doors for you!

Try to Deliver Food for a Food Delivery App

Apps like DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats, and more make it easy to earn money. Yes, you’ll need a reliable car and proof of insurance — or even just a bike! But that’s about it. GPS will show you where to go, making that part easy. Also, there’s always a need for food delivery. You’ll probably be busier than you can imagine! It’s a good job for college summer vacation, no doubt.
