Lovingly referred to as ‘A-Basin’ by locals, Arapahoe Basin is a classic ski resort. That tends to happen when you get over 350 inches of snow every single year! Without any confusing shuttle schedules, you’ll be out on the slopes much faster! One of the reasons local skiers and snowboarders love this resort is that it’s one of the first open every year. Echo Mountain Ski Area

Although one of the youngest ski resorts in the Fort Collins area, Echo Mountain is still one of the best! At the base elevation of 10,050 feet, it’s on 85 gorgeous, snowy acres. And yes, we’ve been talking about the closest ski resort to Fort Collins. But we have to mention that Echo Mountain is only 37 miles from Denver. That makes it perfect for both cities. We recommend their new “Magic Carpet’ learning area for beginners. However, one of the most compelling reasons to ski here is that you can ski at night!
